A flat(ish), fast and scenic certified accurate 10-mile road race starting and finishing in the University Town of Lampeter.  You will follow the river Teifi, crossing the river at Llanfair Clydogau over the old stone bridge to return on the opposite side of the valley. A perfect course for P.B.’s with the veteran Martin Rees posting the fastest ever 10-mile time by a 60-year-old (55:04) in 2013.

The Race

UK Athletics Licence Number: TBC

The race will start at 10:00am on Sunday April 20th 2025 from the Rugby Club in Lampeter, SA487HZ.
Please note the earlier start time for 2025.

The Course

It is a measured and certified 10-mile road race. The race starts and finishes at the Rugby Club in Lampeter.  You will first do a small loop of the town before following the river Teifi, crossing the river at Llanfair Clydogau and returning to Lampeter on the opposite side of the valley

Please remember that the roads will not be closed, and common sense must be used while running on the roads. There will be traffic so please be careful. We have many friendly and helpful marshals along the way to guide you and to help with the traffic.

The course itself will be marked with arrows and tape. The race will be led by an opening bicycle and will be closed with a tail runner.

There will be two locations for water along the 10-mile route, the first at mile 3 and the other at mile 8.

Rules and Regs

For safety reasons we are imposing a maximum time limit of 2 hours this year. We appreciate this might rule some out, which as a club we really don’t like to do, but unfortunately as it’s all on open roads, the safety of runners and marshals becomes more difficult to manage. The club hosts a number of other events throughout the year which are far more flexible. Please see the website for details (https://www.sarnhelen.org.uk)

We would like to draw your attention to the following UK Athletics rules:

  • Rule T55 S5 The use of headphones is not permitted by the Welsh Athletics and due to the event taking place on open roads, it would not be safe to run with headphones.
  • Rule T55 S7 We will not permit runners to run with buggies or pushchairs.

Registration

We would encourage everyone to pre-enter online as this makes it much less stressful on the day. We do however appreciate that planning is not a skill all runners poses so we like to remain felxible :)

We will be operating a paperless registration, therefore on the day entries will have to be done either using your phone or using the touch-screen device provided at registration.

Online entries will remain open until registration closes on the morning of the event; however, the entry fee will increase in the 24 hours leading up to the event.

Pre-entries will be required to collect their race numbers on the morning of the event, before registration closes.

Further details on registration location and opening times will be published closer to the event.

Presentations & Prizes

There is a cash prize for the overall male and female winners plus lovely locally created awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category. This year we will be offering a cash prize of £50 for any male or female who manages to break the (gender specific) course record, kindly sponsored by Cwtsh Y Ci.

Categories are as follows:

  • Open Male
  • Open Female
  • Male 40+
  • Female 35+
  • Male 50+
  • Female 45+

  • Female 55+

In addition to the award winners, everyone will get a Cadbury’s Crème Egg!

Facilities

There will be toilets, changing rooms and showers available at the Rugby Club where hot and cold food / drink will also be served throughout the day.

Parking

Due to the start of the race utilising the road adjacent to the Rugby Club, you will not be able to park on the road itself as it will restrict the start of the race. Please continue down the road and park in the area adjacent to Gwili Jones – Tractor & Farm Machinery Dealers. It’s just a short walk to the Rugby Club from there.
